Service Learning/ The Cinderella Project

School service learning projects benefit numerous parties, from  communities and society  but overall-- students receive the most gains.  Students can generalize what they learn from their experiences with service-learning. They learn how to be respectful toward others and develop awareness of healthy life choices and gain awareness of cultural diversity.

Our service learning project will be collecting new and gently used shoes for the charity Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls is a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting poverty.  The organization advances its anti-poverty mission by collecting new and used shoes from individuals, schools, faith-based institutions, civic organizations-- then distributing the shoes to those in need.

Information:

*We will be collecting new and gently used shoes to donate to people all over the world that may need shoes.

*Send in any  shoes you are donating with your child to be placed in the boxes outside our classroom.

*Shoes will be collected From Monday, November 24th through Friday, December 12th.

*We are also collecting donations to pay for shipping the shoes to areas in need. Send in any monetary donations or drop your coins or dollars  in our coin box just inside room 213.

Venn Diagrams/ Comparing Literature

Venn Diagrams are extremely versatile and used across multiple curriculums. They allow students to graphically see any connections, relations and proportions of the subject matter.

Small groups of children used Venn Diagrams to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between The Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood.
